Job Description
JDRC, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Linux and Windows Systems Administrator with broad skills to support mission-critical systems for a government customer. Provides system administration on Linux-based computer systems and a legacy Windows system, including installation, configuring, testing, and deployment of test, development, and operational workstations and servers. Evaluates security updates and patches and deploys updates to operational systems. Develops scripts to automate system administration tasks in shell, PowerShell, and optionally Perl and Python. Tests systems following system test plans and procedures and creates test reports.
Creates network diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation. Builds, configures and tests computer servers and equipment racks of servers, and prepares them for deployment. Repairs computer servers and equipment. Installs cables and equipment in equipment racks, development labs, and operational server rooms. Communicates with field personnel and government personnel to plan deployments, install systems, maintain systems, and troubleshoot issues.
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience.
Required Skills
- Must have ten (10) or more years of IT experience
- Experience with RedHat or CentOS Linux including:
- installation of the operating system from scratch
- system administration from the command line
- management of RPM software packages using YUM
- basic competency with TCP/IP based networking
- Experience with Windows administration including:
- basic administration of Windows servers and workstations
- SCCM/WSUS
- Must have one (1) year experience with administration of Linux systems
- Must have competence in building and configuring computer systems
- Experience in assembling computer equipment into equipment racks for operational deployment
- Possess detailed knowledge of network hardware and software
- Experience installing and updating software
- Experience in managing operational networks and remotely administering systems
- Experience with writing scripts to automate administration tasks
- Excellent communications and team skills are required
Preferred Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar degree, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Active Directory
- Software development skills in Bash, PHP, Javascript, and C
- Experience with writing Shell, Perl and/or Python scripts
- Experience with configuration management tools including subversion
- Experience administering Apache and MySQL
- Telephony skills including SIP protocols
- Network skills including CISCO ASA
- Linux certifications are preferred, including RHCSA
Clearance
- US Citizen with Active clearance
- Top Secret and Eligible for SCI
- Polygraph or ability to obtain one
